Week 3 i.– Generating Speed

Week 3 started off with a massive ding in my 6’0” 40 litre board called “pig” on the surf camp. I was pretty bummed out as I had to switch boards and spend another one or two sessions just getting used to it until it got repaired.

Fortunately, I still managed some progress as I started speed generating down the line. I realised in one of the feedback sessions, was that I needed to compress slightly before extending. Before this, I would try to extend and end up shifting more weight on my front knee instead.

The motion felt good in the water, but the feedback I received is that although my body mechanics were correct, I still need to shift lines up and back down the wave while performing the motion.

Duly noted, and promptly visualised in my brain for future sessions.
